May 6, 2015 - The day Justin Trudeau backed Harper's terror bill

May 6th 2015 will go down in history as the day that the Conservative government, backed by Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada, stood in defiance of many thousands of Candians, and failed to support our basic civil liberties and the Charter of Rights.

Below are just some tweets from NDP MPs in the lead up to and after the vote on Bill C-51.

First though, a very prescient tweet from Laurel Collins, a Victoria resident who has lead the way in speaking out and organizing to fight this bill.

From Murray Rankin, Victoria's NDP Member of Parliament.

Randall Garrison, Member of Parliament for the newly formed riding of Esquimault - Saanich - Sooke.

A lifelong champion of the rights of the poor and marginalized, and NDP Deputy Leader Libby Davies thanks the many thousands who rallied and participated to stop this bill.

Your voices were not ignored.

Charlie Angus rose to ask the question "Can you imagine Pierre Trudeau being afraid to fight for the charter?"

Remember, if you ever forget who stood up with the Conservative government against out civil liberties, and the voices of thousands of Canadians, the picture below says all that needs to be said.

Thank you to Tom Mulcair, and all New Democrat MPs, for showing guts, grit, determination, and real leadership on Bill C-51. We know what a real government looks like.
