From Murray Rankin's Desk: Stolen Sisters and Moosehide Campaign

This weekend saw two important events in Victoria: the Stolen Sisters Memorial March, and the 4th annual gathering of the Moosehide Campaign to end violence against Indigenous women and girls. At both, I was so inspired by the hundreds of people around me who turned out to walk in solidarity, honouring those lost and demanding action. As the organizer of the Stolen Sisters march said, “We don’t want to forget the lives we’ve lost, but we also want to find solutions for the fu...ture.”

In Parliament, New Democrats forced a debate on the urgent need for a public inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women. Despite resistance from the Conservative government—and the dismissive and shameful comments by the Prime Minister—we will not stand down from our demands for an inquiry and action to address this crisis.
